Our Trademark Rights
“Carefree Senior Living®” and the “Carefree®” designs are registered trademarks of Templeton Development Corporation in the United States. We are not affiliated with any company operating under, or otherwise using, a similar name. Beware of entities that use “Carefree Senior Living®” and the “Carefree®” family of marks, as we are the only legitimate and original Carefree Senior Living® in the U.S.A.
About Our Brand Heritage
Since 1993, Carefree Senior Living has established itself as one of the largest developers of market rate senior apartment communities in the western United States. Our founder, Ken Templeton, President of Templeton Development Corporation, created the Carefree® brand to address the growing need for quality senior housing that prioritizes dignity, health, and happiness for residents.
Our Intellectual Property Includes:
- Carefree Senior Living® — our primary service mark for senior living communities
- Carefree® — our flagship brand name and associated designs
- Carefree Senior Living®, the Carefree Senior Living® design mark, Rent Freeze Special®, and 3 Year Rent Freeze®, which are service marks of Templeton Development Corporation registered in the United States
- Carefree at the Willows and Carefree Willows, which are service marks of Templeton Development Corporation registered in the state of Nevada
- Carefree at North Natomas and Carefree Natomas
- The common law trademark rights in the Carefree Senior Living and Carefree brands
- The copyright in our Carefree Senior Living websites and the copyrights in the logos, photographs, designs, and visual elements contained therein
- Copyrights in and to our advertising and marketing materials used in connection with our business and Carefree Senior Living® brand

- Use of “Carefree Senior Living®” or confusingly similar names
- Use of our logos, designs, or proprietary visual elements
- Any representation that suggests affiliation with our company
…may constitute trademark infringement and unfair competition under federal and state law. The unauthorized use of our intellectual property rights is not allowed under any circumstance.
